Avon Little League 2009 Softball Minor League Draft Rules

I. Creating New Teams and Managers

  1. The Little League Board will determine the number of Teams that will participate in the Minor Softball League.  This will be based on the number of players that have registered to play Minor League Softball.
  2. All Managers must be approved by the Little League Board.
  3. Each Manager must declare one Coach before the draft and freeze their respective child/player.
  4. Each Team must have a total of 2 frozen players before the draft.
  5. The draft pool consists of all registered 9 and 10 year olds.

II. General Rules

  1. The Player Agent/Softball VP will determine how many players each team must have by the end of the draft.  This must be determined before the draft can begin.

  1. The Player Agent/Softball VP will assign how many 9 and 10 year-old players that each team must have by the end of the draft.  This will be determined before the draft begins.

C.     After all teams have determined the 2 frozen players (manager and coaches’ child/player), the managers will rate the teams, and the drafting order will be determined.  The drafting order will be maintained in every round and throughout the entire draft (example 1–8, 1–8, etc.), except for the last round, whereas the draft order will be reversed (example 8 – 1).

  1. If a frozen player has a sister, the Managers will decide the draft position of the sister.  If a decision can not be made by the Managers, then the position of the player will be decided by the Player Agent and the Softball VP.  Her draft position will be determined before the draft starts.

  1. In the draft of non-frozen players, a sister combination will count as consecutive draft choices.

  1. Late entries will be assigned to the team in the last drafting order to equally fill each team’s roster.  Player assignment will be determined by the order in which the Player Agent receives the player’s registration.

  1. All players will be frozen when the Minor League Draft is closed.

  1. The league will be officially closed when all of the league rosters are completely full or the official rosters are submitted to Little League Headquarters.
