Spring 2012: U8 Developmental League (“D-League”)
Dear U8 Boys and Girls Players and Parents:
We are excited to announce our Under-8 Spring schedule of “D-League” events. The focus of these events is purely developmental and highly encouraged for all players, especially those who are considering playing travel soccer in the future. We’ll be visiting other “local” communities and other “local” communities will be visiting us for these (9:30-10:30am) Sunday Game Days. This will be a great learning experience for our children. The Directors of Coaching, volunteer coaches and coordinators will allow for the game to be the teacher and work to promote a safe, challenging and enjoyable experience.
Those that are registered to PARTICIPATE, must be an ASLA player on a current Rec. team who attends their team practices, PASS practices, and plays in their Saturday Rec. game each week. ie. Rec. practice and game participation is mandatory for you to participate in these Sunday games. We cannot adversely affect the Rec. program due to involvement in these supplemental games.
The Spring will consist of (1) (Avon Only) Academy Day (3) Academy Days and (1) Festival Days…….
Academy Days are a 4v4 format using games with varying objectives to teach various aspects of the game. The objectives will include playing to wide goals, "make-it-take-it", possession to end line, etc… There will be no subs and the players will play for a full hour (w/ intermittent breaks)!
Festival Days will be a standard 6v6 format including referees, full sized goals and goalkeepers (ie. friendly scrimmages vs. other communities). This is the game format with which you are currently familiar. Teams will be created by randomly mixing players up each game. However, we will work to reduce the number of subs by setting up fields to accommodate all participants for the scheduled hour.
Completed registration and payment must be received before your player can participate.
Remember: Always wear your D-League issued T-shirt to all events!!!
